RAMAYANA

As they continued the journey, Raama pointed to a big hill with a lovely forest on its slopes and asked:"Is that the place whereto we have to go? 
And who are the evil ones who hinder your yaaga? And what should I do to destroy them?" 

Raamachandra was eager to fight and win the blessings of the sage.

"That is the place we are going to," replied Viswaamitra. "There the Lord Narayana performed tapas and it was there that he was born as Vaamana. It goes by the name of Siddhaashrama.

"Mahaabali, son of Virochana and grandson of Prahlaada the good Asura, was such a powerful ruler that of him even the Devas were afraid. Mahaabali had by his deeds acquired the power of Indra himself. 

"Kashyapa and his spouse Aditi, of whom all the gods were off-springs, prayed to Vishnu and begged Him to be born as their son and protect Indra and the Devas from Mahaabali. In answer to the prayers, Vishnu was born of Aditi as Vaamana. 

"Vaamana in the form of a young student went to the yaaga that was being performed by Mahaabali and where to all were welcome, to ask for and  receive anything they wanted. When Vaamana presented himself as a suitor, Mahaabali's guru, Sukra--the preceptor of all the Asuraas --knew who he really was and warned Mahaabali against promising to grant the young Braahamana his request --that indeed he was the Lord Hari in disguise come to undo him. 

Mahaabali did not pay heed to this  It was his wont never to turn down a request. Besides, he was at heart a devotee of the Lord, and felt that he would indeed be blessed if the Lord should deign to accept a gift from him. With a smile, Mahhaabali bade him ask for what he pleased without hesitation. 'All I have is at your disposal , money, jewels, the wide earth and all it inherits.'

Men of small knowledge are very much attached to the flowery words of the
 Vedas, which recommended various fruitive activitiulence, and who to heavenly planets, resultant good birth,power, and so forth. being desirous of sense gratification and opulent life, they say that there is nothing m re than this.

In the minds of those who are too attached to sense enjoyment and  material opulense, and who are bewildered by such things, the resolute determination for devotional service to the Supreme Lord does not take place.

ఇక మా వంశాన్ని అభివర్ణిస్తున్నాను. మాాదికౌండిన్యస గోత్రం, ఆపస్తంబసూత్రము. పుణ్యాత్ముడూ ధన్యాత్ముడూ అయిన భీమన్న  మంత్రి మా మూలపురుషుడు. ఆయన కుమారుడు అన్నయ్య . ఆయన అర్థాంగి గౌరమ్మ. ఆ దంపతులకు సూర్యుని వరప్రసాదం వల్ల సోమన్న జన్మించాడు. ఆయన ఇల్లాలు మల్లమ్మ. ఆ సతీపతుల సంతానం ఎల్లన్న . ఆయన భార్య మాచమ్మ. వారిద్దరికీ వంశవర్థనుడైన కేసనమంత్రి ఉదయించాడు. చక్కనివాడూ, పెక్కు కళలలో పేరెక్కినవాడూ , దాతా, నీతిమంతుడూ, అభిమానధనుడూ అయిన కేసన్నగారూ లక్మమాంబను సహధర్మచారిణిగా వరించి శాస్త్ర సమ్మతమైన శైవమతాన్ని స్వీకరించాడు.

AHALYA

RAMAYANA After a day's stay  in the City of Visaala, Viswaamitra and his  party left for Mithila. On the way,  not for from Mithila, they saw a beautiful aashrama which seemed untenanted. Raama asked V iswaamitra: "Whose is this aashrama with ancient trees? Why does such a beautiful abode stand deserted?" Viswaamitra replied: "This aashrama is subject to a curse.  Sage Gautama lived here with his wife Ahalya,spending his days in peace and holy meditation. RAMAYANA Contemporaneously with the yaaga in A yodhya there was a conference of the Devas in heaven. The Devas complained to Lord Brahma that  Raavana, king of the demons, drunk with the power acquired by the boon granted to him by Brahma, was causing them untold misery and hardship. they represented to Brahma:"It is beyond our capacity to subdue, conquer or kill  Raavana. In the security of your boon, he has grown wicked and insolent and ill-treats all, even women,  His desire is to dethrone Indra. You are only our only  refuge  and it is for you to devise a method by which Raavana can be slain and his despotism ended. " Brahma knew that he had granted to Raavana the boon prayed for by him that he should be invulnerable and invincible against Devas, Asuras,Gandharvas and other such beings. In his arrogance, Raavana did not care to ask for security against mankind. As Brahma revealed this fateful omission all the Gods rejoiced and turned to  Vishnu....
